He was originally part of the Soviet lunar program and was training with Alexei Leonov for the first human circumlunar flight. After the success of Apollo 8. however. the flight was cancelled. His first spaceflight was Soyuz 12 in 1973. a test flight to check the changes made to the Soyuz spacecraft after the Soyuz 11 disaster. His second flight was the abortive Soyuz 18a that made an emergency landing in the Altay Mountains. 21 minutes after launch. With his third launch on Soyuz 27 he flew to space station Salyut 6 and landed five days later with the Soyuz 26 spacecraft. His last mission was Soyuz T-3. during which several repairs on Salyut 6 were done. He also served on the backup crews for Soyuz 17 and Soyuz T-2. Altogether he spent 20 days. 17 hours. and 44 minutes in space. We are breaking up a large collection of Space Shuttle Astronauts NASA STS crews and Russian Cosmonaut autographed on mainly US FDCs many with rare postmarks. Single Vendor RAF cover collection. Space Shuttle Crew STS51 four Astronauts signed NASA Launch Day 1993 US FDC. Autographed by Commander Frank L. Culbertson Jr., Pilot William F. Readdy, and Mission Specialists Daniel W. Bursch, and James H. Newman. STS-51 was a NASA Space Shuttle Discovery mission that launched the Advanced Communications Technology Satellite (ACTS) in September 1993. Discovery's 17th flight also featured the deployment and retrieval of the SPAS-ORFEUS satellite and its IMAX camera, which captured spectacular footage of Discovery in space. A spacewalk was also performed during the mission to evaluate tools and techniques for the STS-61 Hubble Space Telescope (HST) servicing mission later that year. STS-51 was the first shuttle mission to fly a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver, a Trimble TANS Quadrex. It was mounted in an overhead window where limited field of view (FoV) and signal attenuation from the glass severely impacted receiver performance. Full triple-redundant 3-string GPS would not happen until 14 years later with STS-118 in 2007. Single Vendor autograph collection. Good condition. All autographs come with a Certificate of Authenticity. We combine postage on multiple winning lots and can ship worldwide. UK postage from £5.99, EU from £7.99, Rest of World from £9.99

Space Shuttle Crew STS61a signed 1985 Plain US Veterans FDC. Signed by 8 Astronauts Commander Henry W. Hartsfield, Pilot Steven R. Nagel, Mission Specialists Guion S. Bluford and James F. Buchli, and Payload Specialists Bonnie J. Dunbar, Reinhard Furrer (Germany), Ernst Messerschmid (Germany), and Wubbo Ockels (Netherlands). 6/11/1985 landing day Edwards AFB CDS postmark. Space Shuttle Crew STS61a signed 1985 Mission FDC. Signed by 5 Astronauts Commander Henry W. Hartsfield, Pilot Steven R. Nagel, Mission Specialists Guion S. Bluford and James F. Buchli, and Payload Specialists Bonnie J. Dunbar. Launch Day 30/11/1985 KSC CDS postmark. STS-61-A (also known as Spacelab D-1) was the 22nd mission of NASA's Space Shuttle program. It was a scientific Spacelab mission, funded and directed by West Germany - hence the non-NASA designation of D-1 (for Deutschland-1). STS-61-A was the ninth and last successful flight of Space Shuttle Challenger before the STS-51-L disaster. STS-61-A holds the current record for the largest crew-eight people-aboard any single spacecraft for the entire period from launch to landing. The mission carried the NASA/European Space Agency (ESA) Spacelab module into orbit with 76 scientific experiments on board, and was declared a success.[1] Payload operations were controlled from the German Space Operations Center in Oberpfaffenhofen, West Germany, instead of from the regular NASA control center. This was the first spaceflight to include multiple crewmembers from any single country other than the United States or Soviet Union. The crew also included the first Dutch citizen astronaut, payload specialist Wubbo Ockels. Single Vendor autograph collection. Single Vendor autograph collection. Good condition. NASA Astronaut Jermoe Apt signed NSTL Test 13 Eng 2014 Main Engine 14 Jul 1982 Space Envelope. Missions: STS-37, STS-47, STS-59 + STS-79. In 1991, Apt flew on the STS-37 mission aboard shuttle Atlantis. He made two spacewalks with Jerry Ross, manually deploying the Compton Gamma Ray Observatory's radio antenna when it failed to do so automatically; on the next day their second spacewalk tested hardware later used on the International Space Station. During the second Extra Vehicular Activity the palm-bar in Apt's right glove punctured the suit. Apt's hand conformed to the puncture, filling the hole before any noticeable depressurization could occur. Apt was unaware of the puncture until the glove was examined after the mission. Despite being partially exposed to vacuum he sustained only a minor scar. In 1992, Apt flew on STS-47 aboard shuttle Endeavour as the flight engineer, and commander of one of the two shifts in this round-the-clock mission. In 1994, Apt was again a shift commander of the first Space Radar Laboratory mission, STS-59 aboard shuttle Endeavour. This lab studied the Earth. In 1996, Apt flew on STS-79 aboard shuttle Atlantis and visited the Russian Mir space station. Good condition Est.
